Abi Clarke

In the past, i.e. in the early 2020s. In the past, comedians may have expected to perform across the UK for many years before being invited onto a television panel, and later selling an arena tour. However, that's not straightforward at the moment. One form of art that can be performed live in the future is comedy, however there's no way to expect arena shows. One Bristol comedian has been able to reach a huge worldwide audience during lockdown through social media. Abi Clarke did not set up to become an online celebrity. She is a 24-year-old woman living in Hen bury with her parents, began making online videos "to create a fan base that was like-minded and would appreciate my stand-up comedy. "I was performing a lot of shows in the depths of Devon for men older than 50 who weren't as enthusiastic about my Love Island, Sims and Twilight references. I then went to the internet in hopes to meet other young women who really related to me." Abi has since performed at Lakota Gardens as restrictions on lockdowns have eased but continues to post her videos to Instagram, Twitter and Tik Tok (where she recently surpassed 500k followers), finding inspiration from sources as varied as her job at an establishment, a chat with a stranger or even the girl group chat. She writes all of her ideas down on her phone.
