Moss, born February 13, 1977, is an ex-American football player. He was a
player in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons with the Minnesota
Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and the San
Francisco 49ers. He is widely regarded as Jerry Rice's best wide receiver. He
holds the NFL single season touchdown reception record of 23 in 2007, the NFL
rookie single season touchdown reception records (17 in 1998) and is second on
the NFL's all-time regular-season touchdown reception list with 156. Moss was
well-known for his ability to secure catch contests and the term
"mossed" has been incorporated into football vernacular. He began his
career as a studio announcer for ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown and Tuesday Night
Countdown shows. Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia native. He attended
DuPont High School. It was one of two schools which later merged into Riverside
High School. There the student excelled at football, basketball, baseball
track, as well as other sports. Randy was also a member of the school's debate
group. Moss was a DuPont Panthers' football player that led them to
back-to-back state championshipsin 1992 and 1993. Moss was an outstanding wide
receiver, but also played free safety, returned kickoffs and punts, as well as
was the team's punter and kicker. He was honored with the Kennedy Award in 1994
as West Virginia's Football Player of the Year. Parade magazine named him to
their All-American high school football team in 1995, and in 2009 He was named
among the top 50 football players in high school.
